Hulam / Hulam Box

Hulam is the basic model consisting of 12 semitones of the middle octave. The type of tuning used in the basic model is just intonation or tempered tuning. The parts of the instrument which produce a specific sound frequency (tone part) are delivered separately, which allows for any combination of the tones of your choosing. In case of a group playing, different parts of the instrument can be distributed among different players so everyone can play their preferred tones. Individual tone parts are prefabricated with holes for a string to attach. Mallets of varying hardness are used with Hulam instrument. However, bows could be used to produce a sound on any tone part as well.

Parameters:
Hulam is delivered in a fleece cover with one whittled beech wood mallet. Alternatively, it is possible to deliver the individual tone parts packed in a wooden case called Hulam Box.
